When someone (my mother) says “Can you design me business cards? Do whatever you like” it’s both exciting and and difficult. Being able to do ‘whatever you want’ might sound like fun, but an open ended brief can be a nightmare. I mean where do you start? Fortunately I asked a few questions and was able to find a direction. Kinesiology is a holistic health therapy so is most often associated with some very ‘hippy’ imagery when it comes to business logos. I encouraged her to steer away from this kind of look and to instead focus on something that represented her more personally, like a native flower perhaps? Being a keen gardener (which is well represented at her home where she conducts her business) she was really keen on the idea. She didn’t have a favourite flower in mind so I suggested a protea as it’s quite an interesting and unique looking flower. I also chose a colour which I thought represented her well and was inviting. Lucky for me she loved it!
